On 9 and 22 January 2011, as part of the Post-graduate Studies in Advertising and Media Marketing at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk, barrister Maciej Adamczyk and apprentice barrister Łukasz Niedziela are delivering a series of lectures in the subject of copyrights, industrial property and combating unfair competition. The lectures will be given to a third subsequent year of students.

Transactions with “tax havens” without VAT restrictions

Polish tax law prohibited deducting input VAT on service import from countries rated as tax havens. In accordance with the 11 March 2004 Act on VAT, it is a rule that ordering a service from a subject from outside the EU we are obliged to calculate output VAT, at the same time we automatically gain the right to deduct this sum as input VAT. Declaration of nationalization decision's invalidity - end of one dispute and beginning of another

The inheritors of people who had lost their property heaved a sigh of relief after obtaining a declaration of the invalidity of the nationalization decision from the authorities. In popular opinion this was the end of the problems. For the next step - natural and widely accepted - was to file to a proper Land and Mortgage Register Court a petition to exclude expropriated properties from present land and mortgage registers, to set new registers for them and to record the inheritors as their owners (...)
